Make sure whatever points are made there needs to be be evidence behind it. There are 2 versions to this a regular and a plus. Need to do the PLUS VERSION I have attached the instructions for those. For this PLUS VERSION of your reflective discussion assignment, it is essential that you base your reflection on this week’s lecture material, drawing insights from the required readings and mini op-ed articles provided. Additionally, you will need to use two of the articles from the readings to back up your points with evidence. Below are more in-depth guidelines to help you complete this assignment effectively:

1. Topic Selection

Choose a topic based on the key themes explored in this week’s lecture and readings. Your topic should integrate ideas from the articles you’ve been assigned. Below are suggested topics that align with the readings:

Economic Growth and Development (based on Easterly’s Chapter 3)
- Reflect on the challenges and surprises in economic growth efforts, particularly in developing economies, and how these are addressed by different stakeholders.
The Role of Research in Shaping Policy and Decision-Making (based on Booth et al., Chapters 5 and 6)
- Discuss how effective research methodologies (such as identifying research gaps and structuring arguments) influence policy decisions and economic reforms.
The Impact of Resistance on Economic and Political Systems (based on “Spirits of Resistance” in The Economist)
- Reflect on how resistance movements shape economic and political stability in the context of developing nations and what lessons can be drawn from these experiences.

For the PLUS VERSION, your reflection must be evidence-based. This means that you should directly refer to the readings and mini op-ed articles to support your views.

For example, if you discuss economic growth, refer to Easterly’s “Solow’s Surprise” chapter to back up your reflections about the limitations of traditional economic theories in fostering growth in tropical economies.
Use Booth et al.’s chapters on research methodologies to discuss how research directly influences decisions in economic policy.

Each point you make should be supported by evidence from at least two of the assigned readings. This includes direct quotes, paraphrased content, or insights from the articles. Make sure to cite these sources properly in APA style.

4. Integration of Articles

Make sure to:

Directly quote or paraphrase content from two of the articles listed in the syllabus.
Properly cite both the articles and readings in APA format.

For instance:

Easterly, W. (2002) might be cited when discussing economic growth limitations and challenges in tropical countries.
Booth, W.C., et al. (2024) can be referenced when explaining research methodologies and how they shape policy decisions.

You can also use the articles from The Economist (e.g., “Spirits of Resistance”) to provide current, real-world examples of the theoretical ideas in the readings.

5. Writing Style and APA Format
